Joint Pain Relief in Omaha, NE

Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, Hip, Knee & Ankle Pain

Joint pain has a way of sneaking into everyday life. One day it’s a stiff shoulder when you wake up. The next, your knee hurts walking up the stairs or your wrist aches after a day at work. Over time, that discomfort can turn into frustration, lost mobility, and constant soreness that just won’t go away.

At Kunz Chiropractic in Omaha, NE, we help people every day who are dealing with joint pain in the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles—often without realizing how much the joints are connected to overall alignment, movement, and nerve function. Many patients seek out chiropractic care as an alternative for surgery and we have had success prolonging the life of many different types of joints to avoid surgery.

Also, current patients who may start chiropractic care for other reasons find out we work on other joints than the spine and find help with their everyday aches and pains. These success stories allow for people to enjoy their daily life, work, or casual sports.

If joint pain is slowing you down, there’s a good chance chiropractic care can help.

Why Joint Pain Happens

Joints are designed to move smoothly and efficiently. When something interferes with that movement—whether it’s poor alignment, repetitive stress, past injuries, or inflammation—pain usually follows.

Some of the most common causes of joint pain we see include:

  • Misalignment in the spine or extremities
  • Muscle imbalances pulling unevenly on joints
  • Old sports or work injuries that never healed correctly
  • Repetitive motions (typing, lifting, bending, standing)
  • Wear and tear from daily life
  • Reduced joint mobility or stiffness

Many people are surprised to learn that joint pain isn’t always coming from the joint itself. The problem often starts elsewhere in the body and shows up where stress is being absorbed. The great aspect of Chiropractic care is it evaluates the body as a whole, not as a bunch of parts. So when you have joint pain we look past just the pain site. This usually leads to better outcomes for the patient for a longer period of time.

Shoulder pain can make even simple tasks difficult—reaching overhead, lifting objects, or sleeping comfortably at night.

Common shoulder issues include:

  • Rotator cuff strain
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Limited range of motion
  • Pain that travels down the arm

Chiropractic care focuses on improving shoulder joint motion, reducing muscle tension, and addressing spinal alignment that may be contributing to nerve irritation or weakness in the shoulder. Common areas of pain include pain that radiates from the neck into the shoulder, pain inside the shoulder joint, and pain on the top of the shoulder running down the arm. Each of these issues may have a different origin so a thorough exam is necessary to differentiate the cause. We then implement a specific plan to address the issue. Most patients see results from our approach which allows them to not only use the shoulder for movement, but also for better quality of sleep.

Pain in the elbow or wrist is often linked to repetitive use, especially for people who work with their hands, type frequently, or play sports.

You may notice:

  • Aching or sharp pain when gripping
  • Weakness in the forearm or hand
  • Stiffness or reduced flexibility
  • Pain that flares up during daily tasks

When evaluating a patient’s elbow or wrist issue we look over the entire chain from the neck to the wrist. Our findings can include nerve impingement at the neck, shoulder, elbow or wrist. Muscle imbalances causing strain in specific areas. Misalignment of any of the joints leading to dysfunction of movement. It is important to look over the entire area to obtain the best results.

Many patients in our office develop wrist issues from different actions like a small fall, desk work, hyperextension, or just over time. All of these issues can usually be resolved with a simple adjustment schedule. Most patients see results very quickly in 1-4 visits by improving joint mobility and correcting alignment issues in the arm, wrist, and upper spine. Chiropractic care can help reduce strain and support better healing.

Hip pain can affect how you walk, stand, and even how your lower back feels. Many people assume hip pain is just part of aging, but that’s not always true.

Hip pain may show up as:

  • Pain in the groin or outer hip
  • Stiffness after sitting
  • Pain when walking or standing
  • Discomfort that radiates into the thigh or lower back

Diagnosing the hip area can be complicated due to the many joints involved. We assess the area with palpation to determine muscle tightness and alignment. Then usually an x-ray is used to look for specific problems and rule out complicating factors. Also, the lumbar spine needs to be assessed as the nervous system that controls many areas involving the hip can originate there. After considering all findings a care plan may include adjustments, stretches and exercises.

Many patients see relief within 4 weeks depending on how long the problem has been present. In the office we utilize the drop technique to adjust the pelvis and many patients find it very comfortable. Chiropractic adjustments can help restore motion in the hip joint while addressing pelvic and spinal alignment that often plays a role in hip discomfort.

Knee pain is one of the most common joint complaints we see in our Omaha office. Whether it’s from sports, work, or everyday wear and tear, knee pain can seriously limit activity.

Common knee concerns include:

  • Pain when walking or climbing stairs
  • Swelling or stiffness
  • Instability or weakness
  • Discomfort during exercise

Knees don’t work alone. Problems in the hips, ankles, or spine can change how the knee moves and absorbs impact. Chiropractic care looks at the full picture—not just the knee itself. We use many different adjusting techniques to allow for the care plan to be as comfortable as possible. Knee alignment is linked to pelvic alignment also, so many instances the pelvis should be adjusted also. Chiropractic care is best for simple knee injuries or problems. When there is a great amount of instability or severe pain you should consider another provider.

Many patients who seek knee pain relief in our office are having issues that affect daily living or sleep. The methods we use to correct the problems have a good success rate where the quality of life is improved. I have also witnessed patients who were scheduled for knee replacement for constant medium pain have their problem improved where they could function day to day.

Ankle pain can linger long after a sprain or injury. Even mild ankle issues can throw off balance and movement patterns throughout the body.

You may experience:

  • Pain or stiffness when walking
  • Repeated ankle sprains
  • Limited range of motion
  • Pain that affects balance

The best case scenario when you have an ankle sprain is to have it checked right away for any misalignment. During the healing process having the ankle adjusted can assist the healing process to allow for proper range of motion and tissue regeneration.

Older injuries can develop decreased ranges of motion or lingering pain that is produced with or without activity. Many times patients complain of pain at night also with long lasting ankle pain. Having these injuries evaluated by a chiropractor can assist in the return of normal range of motion and restarting the healing process to allow the ankle to fully function. Chiropractic care helps improve ankle mobility, alignment, and stability, which can reduce strain and support long-term joint health.

Plantar Fasciitis is another common problem patients seek care for at Kunz Chiropractic. This can be an issue that really affects daily living for a decent amount of time. Many patients that we see with this issue tend to recover faster and get results rather quickly.

The signs and symptoms that are most common are pain when getting up in the morning or pain after sitting for some time. The pain is usually located in the heel with radiation of the pain up the calf or into the arch of the foot. Over time the range of motion in the ankle is diminished and the tissue in the area becomes tight which adds stress to the facia keeping the ankle and arch firmly together. This coupled with added stress from a tight calf muscle and achilles tendon produces pain in the area.

Most often patients will present with limited ankle motion especially in flexion and extension along with pain at the sites. An adjustment protocol is used to restore the motion with added stretches to relieve or reset the soft tissue. We also check the knee and hip to make sure after the problem is corrected that it stays corrected. Many patients see results after 2-4 weeks of care.

How Chiropractic Care Helps Joint Pain

At Kunz Chiropractic, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all care. Every joint pain case is different, which is why we take time to understand how your body is moving and where the real problem may be coming from. We start with a thorough exam and usually x-rays to make sure we gather enough information to recommend a care plan.

Chiropractic care for joint pain may include:

  • Gentle joint adjustments to restore motion
  • Spinal care to reduce nerve interference
  • Muscle and soft tissue support
  • Movement guidance to prevent future strain

The goal isn’t just temporary relief—it’s helping your joints move better so your body can function the way it’s supposed to. We have had great success helping people live their normal life much easier. Many patients have found our approach to care to be genuine, time efficient and affordable. Our adjustment style includes both manual and instrument adjustment depending on your situation.

When a patient begins chiropractic care for joint pain no matter the location in the body, usually that pain has been present for some time. Joint pain is a signal indicating an underlying issue that needs to be resolved. When the joint pain is located in the spine the joint not only loses function mechanically, but also communication in the nervous system can become compromised. When we restore the mechanical function of ranges of motion and alignment patients see the difference quite quickly. When restoring nerve function is when patients see improved results from joint pain. Chiropractic can be used on just about every joint in the body and the most important part of care is having a doctor who can find the specific cause of your joint pain.
