Better Performance through Regular Chiropractic Care

woman stretching before a runYou’ve decided to be more active in the new year… now what? Spending hours every day at a desk takes a toll on your body, and being a weekend warrior can also spell trouble. But there are ways to set yourself up for success, so you can keep your resolutions and improve your performance without pain or injury.

Depending on your sport or activity, chiropractic care can help you improve performance in a variety of ways.
  • Golf. Golf requires full range of motion so you can complete your swing. Chiropractic care corrects misalignments to restore proper range of motion, so you can use your muscles properly and at 100%. When your body is lined up and in tune, you’ll have less stress on your spine—which means you’ll have a better round, and you won’t feel as sore afterwards.
  • Running. Hip alignment is critical for runners, whether you’re a weekend jogger or training for a marathon. We also adjust knees and feet to keep the joints balanced to eliminate uneven stress from side to side. Ankles often have limited range of motion, and we can adjust them so that both ankles are moving in the same degrees and with the same amount of force, improving your performance, and helping prevent plantar fasciitis.
  • Gym workouts. Having a clear goal of what you want to achieve at the gym is important. To get in shape, use lower weights and higher reps, combined with some cardio. Chiropractic adjustments help ensure that your brain is communicating well with the muscles you want to use, and the nerves are activating themselves correctly and at 100% so you can move effectively and safely, and have the body awareness to know if you’re doing too much or too little.

Our final word of advice: take it slow. It’s easy to go overboard in the beginning because you’re excited. But if you go too hard, it will inhibit your goal of getting fit for longer than just January. Contact our office for help laying the foundation for your health goals.
